Frequently asked questions

Questions people actually ask

How are hosts vetted?
Hosts are interviewed, home-inspected and background checked, and must have real dog handling experience.
Will my dog be one of several?
No. Hosts are limited to one booking at a time.
How often will I hear from the host?
Structured updates with photographs arrive several times a day.
What happens in an emergency?
Veterinary insurance and a named emergency clinic are arranged in advance of the stay.
What does a stay cost?
65 to 140 dollars a night, depending on the city and the dog.
How much do hosts receive?
Hosts receive 75 percent of each booking, which is far above the market and is the reason good hosts join.
What is the Boarding Stress Assessment?
A free assessment based on your dog's breed, age, temperament, separation history and medical needs. It gives an honest evaluation of how that dog is likely to cope with kennel boarding versus home boarding, and what to look for either way, including when the answer is that your dog will be fine anywhere.
Why should I trust the boarding stress assessment?
The result is worked out from your own answers about your dog, in your browser. It is not a veterinary or behavioural assessment, and it says so plainly when your answers suggest your dog may cope well anywhere. Ask your vet about any health or medication question.

How is your dog likely to cope with a kennel stay?

Answer fifteen questions about your dog's time away from you, new places and other dogs, its routine and care, and its age and energy. See where a stay could be hard and what to ask a kennel or host. Runs in your browser. No account, no card, no call.
